Key fob battery low warning: what it means.

The battery in your remote key or smart key is running low.

Can I keep driving?

Safe to drive. Replace the key battery soon so you don’t get locked out or can’t start the car.

What to do

  1. Look at the back of your key fob for a small slot or screw. Open it carefully.
  2. Replace the coin battery with the same type, usually printed on the old one (for example CR2032).
  3. Keep a spare key battery at home.
  4. Most cars have a backup way to start with a dead fob: hold it against the start button or the steering column. Check your manual.

General guidance, not a diagnosis. Warning lights vary between cars, so check your owner's manual too. If you're ever unsure or the car feels wrong, stop and call for help.
